Widely regarded as one of the finest handling front-engined, rear-wheel-drive cars ever made, the Porsche 968 was the ultimate development of the long-lived 924/944 transaxle range.  There’s no doubt the stripped-out ClubSport was The Daddy with minimal creature comforts and the focus on performance and handling, but the ‘Sport’ variant being one of only 306 manufactured in 1994/95 is the jewel for us since its actually pleasant to own and drive, it has electric windows, sunroof, comfortable & adjustable front seats, rear seats even, yet it retains nearly all of the mechanical performance benefits of the CS.

Supplied new by AFN Reading in March 1994, our Factory Black 968 Sport has clearly been well looked after and serviced regularly and without reluctance.  Many would dispute the recorded 115,500 miles because it simply looks too good.  In the cabin in particular the switchgear, gearknob, seats and carpets belie the mileage.  The fact that the sunroof is fully working is a welcome surprise, as is the central locking and immobiliser.

It’s not just skin deep though for the engine and drivetrain remain in excellent fettle also.  Our car, wrestled from its owner of seven years, boasts an excellent service record with no fewer than 17 service stamps already completed, & the eighteenth underway presently.  Belt changes at 107,908 miles and again at 114,563 miles will be complemented by a full service by respected specialist during this month (May 2021).  In 2014, with mileage of 113,600 this impressive 968 had a replacement clutch and flywheel plus rear discs and pads.

In September 2011 at 107,908 miles, it had a major £3,561 service when the timing belt and tensioner were replaced, new front brake discs and Brembo callipers were fitted along with EMC spec GAZ Gold shock absorbers.

Our 968 will be sold with all its original handbooks, many old MOT’s, a wealth of past invoices and correspondence, plus current MOT.

Thrilling to drive and rare as the proverbial ‘hen’s teeth’, the 968 ‘Sport’ has earned its status alongside the 996/997 911, whilst offering better value for money than either of these cars.
