Our MGB GT delivers a very simple entry into the exciting and friendly world of Historic Motorsport. It’s not all multi-million-pound investments in metal, motorhomes and pit crews, besides which, we promise you that the guys & girls in the MGB’s, Alfa’s, Volvo’s and Datsun’s which you’ll be competing alongside are having more fun anyway!…
This car you’re looking at is a 1977 MGB converted to current high-standard rally specification by those clever people at the MG Owners’ Club in 2018 with full photographic records of the extensive work undertaken. To repeat this car today your investment would have to be significantly more than our retail price.
The major componentry of this car is as follows;
Our MGB GT retains its original 1977 body shell, but was restored and rebuilt with new front wings, new door skins & Sebring panels. An original MGB GT V8 engine which has been reconditioned by recognised authority, Ivor Searle Ltd, was married to this car, as were MG RV8 manifolds, RV8 bonnet, RV8 Rear axle with limited-slip diff and an LT77 5-speed manual gearbox.
Further developments, include; Stainless steel big bore sports exhaust, MGB Evolution front suspension and steering upgrade, Frontline Developments 5-link rear suspension, lightened flywheel, V8 Developments Warrior Head (fitted 2021 by V8 Developments), ported, gas-flowed, new bigger valves and guides, new rocker assemblies, adjustable pushrods, double valve springs, V8 Developments fast road cam for low down torque, half roll cage, Wilwood brakes, Super Oscar driving lights, LED replacement bulbs internally and external bar headlights and spots (which comply to rally regulations), Edelbrock carburettor, twin Revotec electric fans with manual override, intermittent wiper facility, USB charge point and Brantz V2 on-board rally computers.
There is a very generous history file to accompany this car including the photographs of the major restoration.
To date, this car has competed in Hero events including Hero Challenge series and Summer Trial, securing class wins in each. It also took part in The London to Lisbon Trial in 2019 and a few Three Castle’s Rallies. Further, it was the Winner of the test-pilot trophy for fastest car in the Hero Novice Trial, June 2022.
Long may this pedigree continue in new hands.
