We’re pleased to offer this MGB GT with implanted V8 which was the past subject of major restoration in Sheffield in the late 1980’s by respected MG restorers, Mike J. Satur Ltd.

The rebuild of this MG included a complete body-off and chassis restoration with over 85% of the panels replaced, or jig-built to equivalent factory specifications which at the time made the bodywork undistinguishable from new.  All internal panels were rustproofed prior to assembly and wax injected on completion.   The engine implanted to our car is an SD1 Vitesse unit, rebuilt with high compression pistons, stage II camshaft (224), fully gas-flowed and ported head with double valve springs and phosphor bronze guides.  The engine output is estimated at c200bhp which is fed to a 3.07 LSD axle via a 5-speed gearbox.

….It must be said that the whole package is really very sweet indeed.  The engine fires to life readily (& loudly!) then idles very happily.  Whilst not perfect in the paint, one would still be proud to own it, and there’s no doubting the credentials of this motorcar and the journeys it is capable of.

We see this car as a perfect affordable entry to historic rallying or similar pursuits.  It benefits from not having been over-developed, meaning, it still looks ultimately like a road car with comfortable seats, door cards, seatbelts, a stereo and period Compomotive wheels.

The most recent owner of this car has used her only sparingly since May 2018 having acquired her from his friend, Mr Mike Barker, formerly of the Midland Motor Museum in Bridgnorth, who owned this MG from June 1997.  Before this, a gentleman from Stourbridge owned the car since 1990.  Amongst the history for this car is a wonderful book of hand-written notes throughout the ownership of Barker from 68,069 miles in 1997, to 119,640 miles in 2017.  This car was undoubtedly lavished with care and attention, and it shows.
