2006 Westfield XI Commemorative Edition in Team Lotus colours. No.23 of 50 Limited Edition vehicles. Just one owner and only 6,500 miles. BMC A-Series 1380cc engine with single Weber carburettor, producing around 109bhp & weighing less than 500kg. Not practical, but who cares?
Emulating the Lotus XI which finished seventh overall at Le Mans in 1956, our Westfield-built sportscar has been only lightly used and accordingly presents exceptionally well! The A-Series engine has been bored out to 1380cc and matched with a single Weber 40DCOE carburettor, forged pistons, and balanced bottom end. This amounts to 109bhp at 4900rpm which is spritely in anyone’s language, particularly when weighing only approximately 500kg. The gearbox in our car is the superior five-speed Ford Type 9 unit.
The evocative Team Lotus green paint colour and decals including RAF roundels suit the car beautifully. All in all, a great example of a rare limited edition Westfield, built as a factory demonstrator, further benefitting from a full deck tonneau in red, and even an appropriate ‘LXI’ registration number.
