Our 1998 Renault Sport Spider in trademark metallic pearlescent Sports Yellow presents very beautifully indeed, as you would expect from a bonafide collector’s piece with fewer than 3,000 warranted miles from new.  2,667 miles to be exact.

With somewhat of a cult following, the Sport Spider with its revolutionary aluminium spaceframe chassis (think Maserati Birdcage & Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing!), vertically opening doors, adjustable pedal position and, for our car at least, the exceptionally rarely optioned colour-coded rear spoiler helps build the mystique.  It’s not impossible that the prominence of these cars is deservedly won in part thanks to the surprisingly exhilarating 4-cylinder DOHC 150bhp 16-valve 2.0 litre F7R Clio Williams engine which claims 0-60mph at 7.05 seconds and a top speed of 134 mph…(though we couldn’t and wouldn’t corroborate, Officer).

Our car has had just four former keepers, and though often little-used, was always cherished.  Demand for servicing has been modest given the low mileage, but it was last serviced fewer than 200 miles ago in February 2016, which included replacement cambelt, full oil service, replacement of rear brake flexi hoses and brake fluid change. Total bill, with labour, £1,300.  ‘R11 SPY’ has recently been granted a fresh MOT, and we shall be happy to supply the car to its new owner following an oil and filter service.

This mildly eccentric Spider shall be sold complete with full deck tonneau, featuring handy central zip should you not be carrying a passenger and wet weather gear in the form of roof and side screens.

It is further accompanied by its Aluminium Metoni history wallet as issued by supplying dealer with book pack and spare key.  Also, briefcase in luggage compartment housing spares, tow hook and jack.

Unusually, but not unexpectedly given the Collector Car nature of this vehicle, also included in the sale are a host of Renault Sport Spider related paraphernalia including books on the subject, sales brochures, some rather fetching Team Renault ELF Michelin clothing, and of course, the aforementioned history wallet, book pack and spare key.
