1965 Jaguar E-Type Series I 4.2 Fixedhead Coupe **SOLD**

An original UK right hand drive Fixedhead E-Type from 1965 fitted with a keen 4.2 litre engine paired to manual gearbox, making this, arguably, one of the most desirable combinations.

Supplied in March 1965 by Moores of Brighton, the first owner was a business, British Manufactured Bearings, which explains why it wore the rather apt registration of “BMB 1”.  Retained upon their sale of the vehicle in 1977, it was to become assigned “45 XKE” in September of 1990.

In 1965 our car sported cream paintwork and a light blue interior, but the red and black combination as featured today has been present since the 1980’s.

This car has had only two owners since 2009, the most recent since 2017.   This is not a completely restored motorcar, though it has received continual maintenance and remedial works when required.  It wears a pleasing patina sympathetic to its age and houses a very ‘willing’ engine which starts readily and idles happily in moments.  It’s not the finished article, and wouldn’t be at this price point, but its perhaps only requiring light attention in one or two areas (most notably, the fitment of new door rubbers which accompany the car).  There are no major bodywork or mechanical demands in its near future.

In 2014, a sum close to £6,000 was invested in bodywork, specifically, inner and outer sills, A pillar, rear wheel arches and lower rear valance, which has been completed with a lightly crackled finish, and a complete respray to the rest of the car in red.  It is further accompanied by a generous history file.

This Jaguar provides an excellent opportunity to own a significant part of motoring history that is ready to be enjoyed and receive added value as you go….
