Delivered new in March 1954 to Mr A. Harris of Stourbridge, Worcestershire, this fine Mercedes-Benz Saloon still carries its original registration number, ‘141 HYX’.
Fully restored by a clearly competent privateer restorer between 2001 and 2002 with numerous photographs of the meticulous process, this included a full strip, re-metal, repaint and rebuild with new interior carpet. The cabin retains all original art deco style instruments and features, and even boasts the ‘His Master’s Voice’ dog and gramophone logo on the period dash-mounted radio fascia.
Its original buff log book and a host of service and maintenance history accompany the car. It was dyno tested some 15 months ago with evidence of the surprisingly torquey engine producing 102.5bhp and 132lb of torque. It further benefits from four new tyres in February 2011 which have had received only light use since.
MOT exempt, this handsome 50’s Saloon in vibrant but tasteful Blue coachwork is a fine driving car that delivers a satisfying sense of accomplishment as you navigate up through the four forward gears on the column shift change. The trafficators work as you would expect and save for a couple of thimbles of lead replacement with each refuel, she wants for nothing.
The absolutely perfect vehicle for the Pre-66 Car Park at Goodwood Revival…..
